Mind Body

 

At Re-Creation, we believe a healthy body needs a healthy mind. That’s why we offer several Mind Body classes.

 

Why do yoga?

The short answer is that yoga makes you feel better. Practicing the postures, breathing exercises and meditation makes you healthier in body, mind and spirit. Yoga lets you tune in, chill out, shape up -- all at the same time.

 

For many people, that's enough of an answer. But there's more if you're interested.

For starters, yoga is good for what ails you. Specifically, research shows that yoga helps manage or control anxiety, arthritis, asthma, back pain, blood pressure, carpal tunnel syndrome, chronic fatigue, depression, diabetes, epilepsy, headaches, heart disease, multiple sclerosis, stress and other conditions and diseases. What's more, yoga:

 

Ÿ  Improves muscle tone, flexibility, strength and stamina

Ÿ  Reduces stress and tension

Ÿ  Boosts self esteem

Ÿ  Improves concentration and creativity

Ÿ  Lowers fat

Ÿ  Improves circulation

Ÿ  Stimulates the immune system

Ÿ  Creates sense of well being and calm.

Why Pilates

Pronounced “pee – lah – tees”, Joseph Pilates developed his exercise system in the 1920s as a means to achieving optimal health—a sound body and mind. A Pilates workout will increase strength, flexibility and energy levels. It offers a way to lengthen, realign and redefine the body while improving posture, balance and coordination, and focusing the mind. Pilates workouts can be performed using specially designed equipment or simply mats.
